2026 Art: Pre-Order

Robert's piece illustrates the gritty origins of modern Combat Diver history. His genius with manipulating light truly captures the dark, utilitarian mood of early tactical diving in this monochrome blue layout depicting a French frogman from the elite Nageurs de Combat, a maritime Special Operations unit established in the early 1950s by a French veteran of the British Special Operations Executive.

The subject is equipped with the iconic Oxygers 57 closed-circuit oxygen rebreather. Producing no bubbles, front-mounted pure-O2 lungs like the Oxygers remain the gold standard for stealth during covert ship-attack and sabotage operations. During the Second World War, Combat Divers like this one are known to have sunk or heavily damaged at least 20 enemy ships using similar technology.
